Two women booked for fraud
Hoshiarpur, December 27
The Garhdiwala police has booked two women for duping a man of Rs 60,000 in the name of getting his son employed in the Army. According to the police, Dilbag Singh of Chokha alleged that Surjit Kaur, wife of Harwinder Singh of the same village, and Santosh Kumari, wife of Ram Lal of Bassi Khurd, took Rs 60,000 from him for getting his son Amritpal Singh employed in the Army. But neither did they got his son employed, nor returned the money.

Attempt to rob Bibi’s son-in-law
Kapurthala, December 27
A gunman foiled an attempt to loot SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur’s son-in-law and YAD leader Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh at Tandhi village on the Begowal - Bhogpur road falling under the Bholath police station. The police said Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh along with Yadwinder Singh and gunman Sharanjeet were intercepted at Tandhi village by 10 robbers on Wednesday. The police had seized the two motorcycles left by the robbers on the spot. Later, the police succeeded in nabbing one of the robbers, identified as Balbir Singh Billu of Bhaghria village, located just four kilometers away from Tandhi village. Meanwhile the Bholath police had registered an FIR under Sections 342, 395, 511, 307 of the IPC for attempt to murder and attempt to loot in this regard.
