Teenager gang-raped

Nakodar, December 16
A teenaged girl of Mehatpur village was allegedly gang-raped by several youths in nearby Islampura on the night of December 13.

The victim, who was hospitalised, told the police that she was on her way to meet her friend when one of the accused struck and forcibly took her on his bike to his another friend's house, where she was gang-raped by several youths. The rapists also threatened to eliminate her if she complained to anyone, the victim told the police.

The medical examination of the victim conducted in Civil Hospital confirmed the rape, the police said. Later, the Mehatpur police arrested three alleged rapists. The arrested accused were identified as Palwinder Singh, alias Sonu, of Shahpur village, Balwinder Singh of Khurampur village and Dalbir Singh of Khurampur, said SP (Rural) Rajinder Singh. Five other accused were identified as Manga and Ajay of Khurampur village, Pachi and Mithu of Danewal village and Sunny of Shahpur, said the SP.
