Newborn found dead; another abandoned

A newborn baby was found dead at Dhotian village today. The body was half eaten by animals. The Sarhali police has registered a case under Section 318 of the IPC. The villagers found the body in the morning and informed the police about it. The post-mortem examination was conducted at the Civil Hospital.

Man held for snatching
Hoshiarpur, December 11
Residents of Roli village nabbed Harjeet Singh of Himachal Pradesh, who had snatched gold earrings of a local woman. Harjeet was later handed over to the police. The incident occurred on Monday. Harpreet had snatched the earrings of Vinod Kumari but was caught after she raised an alarm.

Attendance found satisfactory during surprise check at schools
Nawanshahr, December 11
The deputy district education officer, Kulwant Singh, and district ICT coordinator, Harjinder Singh Gill, conducted surprise inspections at government schools in Mehndipur and Chandiani Khurd, today.

Newborn found dead; another abandoned

A newborn baby was found dead at Dhotian village today. The body was half eaten by animals.
The Sarhali police has registered a case under Section 318 of the IPC. The villagers found the body in the morning and informed the police about it. The post-mortem examination was conducted at the Civil Hospital.

Phagwara: A newborn girl was reportedly found near Chachoki village here last evening.

The infant was lying on the road and was first noticed by Babu Ram, an egg seller, of nearby Virk village, who informed the police instantaneously. The police has sent the infant to a local civil hospital for medical care. Senior Medical Officer Phagwara Dr Rajiv Gupta said a child specialist doctor has been deputed to take care of the baby who is suffering from chest infection.

Superintendent of Phagwara Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said, “The police is investigating the matter and searching for her parents is underway.”

Youth commits suicide

Hoshiarpur, December 11
Harpreet Singh (20) of Bilaspur village committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling fan at his house on Tuesday. The police has begun proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. The body has been handed over to his relatives after the postmortem examination. The police did not find any suicide note. — OC

3 booked for torturing woman

Hoshiarpur: The police has booked three of a family for allegedly torturing a woman over dowry. Prabhjeet Kaur of Mundian, in her complaint, said she was tortured over dowry by her husband Tirath Singh and his family since her marriage a year back. The police has booked Tirath Singh and his mother Amarjit Kaur and Sukhjeet Kaur under Sections 498 A and 506 of the IPC. — OC

Attendance found satisfactory during surprise check at schools

Nawanshahr, December 11
The deputy district education officer, Kulwant Singh, and district ICT coordinator, Harjinder Singh Gill, conducted surprise inspections at government schools in Mehndipur and Chandiani Khurd, today.

The attendance of the staff and students was satisfactory. They took stock of the sanitation conditions at the school and interacted with the students to have first hand information about the class room teaching and other co-curricular activities being organisedin the school. The teachers were also given tips to further improve the teaching learning process.— OC
