Tribune News Service

Jalandhar, December 16
The district general secretary and in charge of the Kartarpur segment of the BSP, Kamal Dev Jandusingha, along with other BSP leaders burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at Company Bagh here today. Speaking on the occasion, Jandusingha said the ruling SAD-BJP government was deliberately not waiving the fee of Dalit students in the state. He said due to this a large number of meritorious Dalit students in the state were being forced to give up studies. Both students and their parents were greatly worried over the prevailing phenomena.

EARLIER STORIES

The grievances had been taken to the government, its ministers and the Social Welfare Department, but the government was still not paying any heed to them. Jandusingha said the BSP would not let thousands of students suffer and the if the government did not waive the fees of Dalit students or refused to take action against the institutions (government and private) which had forcibly been minting money from these students, then the party would be forced to intensify its agitation for the cause. Taking a dig at Dalit ministers who had won from reserved seats, party activists said at least they should pay heed to the plight of these students and if they refused to do so, the party would not shy away from gheraoing their homes in the future.
