Fake currency racket busted; 5 arrested

The district police has arrested all five members of a fake currency racket gang. Fake currency, worth Rs 1,35,000, along with a scanner and a printer were also recovered from the accused.

A case under Sections 420, 489-A, 489-B, 489-C, 489-D and 489-E of the IPC was registered against the accused at the Goindwal Sahib police station.

SSP Kamaljit Singh Dhillon told newsmen here today that the gang members had been identified as Mandeep Singh Manni of Chohla Sahib, Kulwinder Singh of Tur, karaj Singh of Rattoke, Gurpreet Singh of Dhotian and Angrej Singh of Kot Mohammad Khan .

The SSP said the accused had installed the scanner and the printer at the residence of Angrej Singh and the accused had just started the illegal job.

3 robbers snatch car

Hoshiarpur, October 16
Three robbers snatched a car (PB-07 Temp 9187) from Ajay Kumar of the local Marwaha Mohalla near Khanpuri Gate last night.
According to the police, three unidentified robbers, brandishing a pistol, snatched the car from Ajay Kumar when he was parking it. The police has registered a case under Sections 382 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. OC
