Two killed in road accidents
Tarn Taran, October 8
Two persons were killed in two road accidents here. Malkiat Singh (35), a worker of the Goindwal Sahib Thermal Plant, who was a resident of the Fatehchak locality, died in a road accident near Sanghe village, 6 km from here . Malkiat was on his motor cycle (No. PB-46 J 8579) and was going to Goindwal Sahib for his duty.

State-level school tournament

The five-day 58th Inter-District Schools Sports tournament began here today. It was inaugurated by Harmit Singh Sandhu, Chief Parliamentary Secretary,Punjab. DK Mahia, District Education Officer (secondary education), presided over the function organised at the local Maharaja Ranjit Singh Public School .

Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission chairman Rajesh Wagah and member Parkash Singh Gardiwala today conducted surprise visits at Government Primary and Senior Secondary Schools, Banga, and Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Khatkar Kalan, in the district to take stock of the implementation of various welfare schemes for students.

Two killed in road accidents

Tarn Taran, October 8
Two persons were killed in two road accidents here. Malkiat Singh (35), a worker of the Goindwal Sahib Thermal Plant, who was a resident of the Fatehchak locality, died in a road accident near Sanghe village, 6 km from here.

Malkiat was on his motor cycle (No. PB-46 J 8579) and was going to Goindwal Sahib for his duty. His motor cycle was hit by a four-wheeler No. (PB-02-BS 2909 . He received serious injuries, resulting in his death on the spot.

The Sadar police registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 427 of the IPC against the driver of the four-wheeler, who was identified as Sukhchain Singh of Fatehbad village.

In the second incident, Sukhdev Singh (40), an employee of the Powercom, died in an accident near Nagoke Gharat . The victim was on his motor cycle. The Verowal police has registered a case in this regard. — OC

State-level school tournament

Kulwant Singh, assistant district education officer (sports), said the district had been given the assignment to organise the tournament for volleyball, softball (under-17) and jump rope (under-19) for boys and girls. — OC

Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission chairman Rajesh Wagah and member Parkash Singh Gardiwala today conducted surprise visits at Government Primary and Senior Secondary Schools, Banga, and Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Khatkar Kalan, in the district to take stock of the implementation of various welfare schemes for students.

They interacted with the schoolchildren to get first hand information about the supply of books and uniforms. He also sought information about opening of bank accounts of students eligible for various scholarships schemes. Deputy District Education Officer, Kulwant Singh were also present on the occasion. — OC
