Two killed in mishaps
Jalandhar, September 29
Two persons were killed and three had a miraculous escape in three separate road accidents in the city in last 24 hours. A resident of Chak Jagar, Jammu and Kashmir, died in a hit-and-run case on the Jammu-Jalandhar highway yesterday. Truck driver Puran Chand, the victim, was ferrying a truck loaded with apples to Ferozabad, Uttar Pradesh, from Srinagar.

In-laws booked for dowry
Batala, September 29
Three persons were booked for dowry harassment. Amandeep Kaur, the victim, lodged a complaint with the police that her husband Nishan Singh, father-in-law Gurnam Singh and mother-in-law Gurmej Kaur used to harass her regularly.

Jalandhar, September 29
Two persons were killed and three had a miraculous escape in three separate road accidents in the city in last 24 hours. A resident of Chak Jagar, Jammu and Kashmir, died in a hit-and-run case on the Jammu-Jalandhar highway yesterday. Truck driver Puran Chand, the victim, was ferrying a truck loaded with apples to Ferozabad, Uttar Pradesh, from Srinagar.

He and Om Prakash, a fellow driver, were crossing the road after parking their vehicles in order to get some medicine from a clinic in Pachranga village, said ASI Nirmal Singh, an investigating officer of the case. A Maruti van hit Puran Chand while he was crossing the highway, leaving him injured.

An auto-rickshaw driver Raj Kumar, resident of Avtar Nagar, was killed when a truck rammed into the stationary auto at Pathankot Chowk on the Jalandhar-Jammu highway today.

In another incident, three members of a family had a narrow escape when a private bus collided with the car they travelling in. Following the collision, an oil tanker heading towards the same direction, hit the car on its right side.

In-laws booked for dowry

Three persons were booked for dowry harassment. Amandeep Kaur, the victim, lodged a complaint with the police that her husband Nishan Singh, father-in-law Gurnam Singh and mother-in-law Gurmej Kaur used to harass her regularly.

Her in-laws had demanded a car from her parents. She returned to her parental home after the case was registered under Sections 498 A and 406 of the IPC at police station Rangar Nangal.
