Online system to check fertiliser shortage
Jalandhar, September 21 This is a part of the efforts of the Centre Government to provide quality fertilisers and show its availability to the farmers. Presently, the government is monitoring the same by the fertiliser monitoring system(FMS). This is an effort for the benefit of farmers by Krishak Bharti Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO), which has been named as a nodal agency by the Union Department of Agriculture. The system will be applicable from November 1 and will be compulsory for all dealers/societies dealing in fertilisers. In addition to this, the Union Government has initiated a new programme to provide subsidy to the retailers by providing a software, the mobile fertiliser management system (MFMS), on their mobile phones. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies, said their department would provide a mobile corporate connection to all the societies within the district and from March 31, 2012, all the cooperative bank branches here would be online. Funds for the same were being provided by NABARD, he added. In this connection, KRIBHCO organised a training programme and registration on the online system and generated the IDs of all the fertiliser dealers and officers of the district that concluded last night. An MFMS software was installed in the mobile phones of retailers/wholesalers and they were informed about the working of the software. Officers also delivered a talk on the benefits of the programme, he added. Dr S.K. Airi, Chief Agricultural Officer, said it was an impeccable system by which government could track the dispatch, receipt, sales and stock availability from a company in the hands of the retailers. It would reveal the difference between the demand and supply of fertilisers to the farmers and would prevent the shortage of fertilisers in future, he said. Kulwinder Singh, Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies, addressed the gathering and said the system would mean more business for them since they had a complete data of the farmer’s needs and his credit worthiness, he pointed out. The programme was organised by R.P.Rathor, Senior Field Officer, KRIBHCO,
