It was a field day for school and college students as well as for the villagers who gathered at the Adampur Air Force Station to witness the static display of its aircraft, armaments and assets ahead of the 79th Air Force Day celebrations to be held on October 8.

The Indian Air Force is organising various functions as part of the Air Force Day celebrations at its various airbases in the country.

The spectators were enthralled by the static display of firepower of MiG-29 aircrafts, IGLA missiles and SAM III missile on TLVs. Armament stores, crash fire equipment and surveillance equipment were also on display. The MiG-29 jet fighters remained the centre of attraction for the students. The air force officers explained them about its functioning and usage in the Indian Air Force.

The static display was held with an aim to make the students and the villagers, from the adjoining villages of Adampur, aware of the might of the Indian Air Force and to create awareness regarding various job prospects in the Indian Air Force. The show started at 9 am and concluded at 4 pm and received a huge applause from the spectators.

The Air Wing of the NCC Group Headquarters also conducted parasailing and aero-modelling that turned out to be another major attraction. The Guard Flight also attracted spectators. The officials from the Adampur Air Force Station also put up a special stall where they distributed publicity material, including posters, to the youth.

Air Commodore M Fernandez, Air Officer Commanding of Adampur Air Force Station, inaugurated the show that was attended by air force officers, their families and other personnel.
