Woman killed, 3 hurt in accident

Jasbir Kaur (26) of Sangha village was killed and three of her relatives were seriously injured in a road accident near Benwalipur village, 10 kms from here, on Sunday evening. All of them were riding a motorcycle which was hit by a tractor-trolley.

Woman dies of snakebite
Phagwara, September 10
A woman, identified as Sanju, died of snakebite at her house in Chack Hakim village today. The deceased had gone to the toilet where the snake was already present.

‘FIR registration doesn’t depend on jurisdiction’

Registration of an FIR doesn’t depend on the jurisdiction of police stations, said newly appointed SSP Kapurthala Inderbir Singh.

Headmasters honoured
Nawanshahr, September 10
The district unit of the Master Cadre Union, Punjab, organised a function at JSFH Khalsa Senior Secondary School to honour the newly promoted headmasters and lecturers here on Monday. Gurpreet Singh Riar, state president of the union, was the chief guest.

Woman killed, 3 hurt in accident

Tarn Taran, September 10
Jasbir Kaur (26) of Sangha village was killed and three of her relatives were seriously injured in a road accident near Benwalipur village, 10 kms from here, on Sunday evening.

All of them were riding a motorcycle which was hit by a tractor-trolley.

Dilbag Singh of village Sheron, who was driving the tractor-trolley, has been booked under Sections 304A, 279, 337 and 338 of the IPC by the Sarhali police station.

The injured were identified as Jasbir’s husband Paramjit Singh (28), her son Vansh (6) and Balkar Singh.

They were returning to their Sangha village from Jamarai village. The tractor-trolley hit their bike when they tried to overtake it near Benwalipur.

Jasbir died on the spot. The injured have been admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

Woman dies of snakebite

Phagwara, September 10
A woman, identified as Sanju, died of snakebite at her house in Chack Hakim village today. The deceased had gone to the toilet where the snake was already present.

After she was bitten by the snake, she was first brought to a private hospital, then referred to the local Civil Hospital, where she died. The body of the deceased was handed over to her family.

‘FIR registration doesn’t depend on jurisdiction’

Registration of an FIR doesn’t depend on the jurisdiction of police stations, said newly appointed SSP Kapurthala Inderbir Singh.

Talking to the media here today, he said under Section 154 of the police rules, the first information report (FIR) could be lodged and registered in any police station without bothering about the jurisdiction issue. He said checking crime would be his top priority. Inderbir said the police would also keep an close eye on white-collar crime.

Headmasters honoured
