Woman held with 2.5 kg opium Tarn Taran, July 9 Mother-son booked
Gurmit Kaur, a resident of Ghagge village, and her son Navjot Singh have been booked under Section 363, 366 A, 34 IPC for allegedly abducting the teenaged daughter of their neighbour. The father of the victim in his statement to the police alleged that the accused abducted his daughter luring her on the pretext of marriage. The victim was abducted from the village on Sunday evening, he alleged. Dowry harassment
Nine members of a family have been booked under Section 498 A, 406 IPC by the Sadar police late on Sunday evening for dowry harassment. The case was registered on the directions of the court of the local Chief Judicial Magistrate RK Condal on the complaint of Kawaljit Kaur, a resident of Gill Waraich village here. She had alleged inaction by the police in her case. The accused include, victim’s husband Charan Singh, father-in-law Jagir Singh, mother-in-law Kulwant Kaur, Tarlochan Singh and his wife Paramjit Kaur, Ranjit Singh and his wife Gurwinder Kaur, Gurmit Kaur and her husband Harwinder Singh. |

Depressed mother kills ‘rape’ victim Amritsar, July 9 While the girl died on the spot, the woman was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in a serious condition. The shocking incident took place about 9.30 pm. Doctors attending on her said she is serious due to heavy blood loss. Sakshi, the victim, said she took the extreme step as she felt disgusted after her relatives criticised her for lodging a complaint against her husband. It is pertinent to mention here that her husband Ramesh Kumar has been arrested following the complaint. Sakshi got married to Ramesh in 1993, but they did not have any child even after 12 years of marriage. The couple then adopted a baby girl of her brother-in-law (elder brother of Ramesh). A day before yesterday, she caught Ramesh while sexually abusing her daughter following she lodged a case with the police. The police authorities confirmed that the girl is dead. |
