Worker, farmer bodies demand adequate power
Sonepat, November 9 According to a report, this demand was adopted at the delegate session held here yesterday. A large number of delegates from all over the district took part in the session. Mr Chandera unfurled the party flag on the occasion. Inaugurating the session Mr Phool Singh Sheokand, president of the state unit of the sabha criticised the state government for adopting anti-farmer attitude and alleged that the government had failed to provide remunerative price to the farmers for their produce in spite of repeated representations. As a result, most of the farmers are under debt. He also said the government had increased the prices of diesel, fertilisers, seeds and other agricultural inputs. Similarly, the power rates have also been increased to manifold and this has caused resentment among the farmers and other people. He made a fervant appeal to the farmers to remain united and continue their struggle for forcing the government to accept their genuine demands. The delegate session was also addressed, among others, by Mr S. N. Solanki, a leader of CITU, Mr Balbir Singh Dahiya, vice-president of the state unit of the All-India Kisan Sabha and Mr Howa Singh. Later, an 11-member of the district committee was formed and its office-bearers were elected. The office-bearers elected are Mr Ishwar Singh — president, Mr S. N. Solanki — secretary and Mr Jai Bhagwan Khera — treasurer. |
