Centre gives nod to Rs
91 crore power schemes
Hisar, November 4 A spokesman for the Haryana Power Utilities said here today that the power distribution corporations of Haryana had sent a number of schemes for each district costing around Rs 700 crore to the Centre for approval under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojna. Schemes for other districts were likely to be approved in phases. Tenders for the projects under the approved schemes had been floated by the DHBVN and the UHBVN. To strengthen the power transmission system in the state, the Haryana Power Utilities has planned to set up 65 additional new substations and augment the capacity of 66 existing substations in its area at a cost of Rs 684 crore. During the past around 7 months, it has already set up nine new substations at different stations in the state and augmented the capacity of 36 existing substations at a cost of Rs 186 crore. To strengthen the power distribution system so as to give uninterrupted power supply at proper voltage up to the tail of electricity feeders, the agency plans to rehabilitate all lengthier and overloaded feeders of 11 KV level by dividing each feeder into two or three feeders and renovating the complete system. It has rehabilitated 24 feeders of 11 KV so far. As many as 25 new 11 KV feeders have also been added in the distribution network. Complete power distribution system in a number of towns is being renovated under different schemes so as to increase the reliability of power supply. To make power supply system interruption-free, 6,500 power distribution transformers of different capacities have been set up and the capacity of over 600 existing substations augmented. Plans are to install about 7,000 new transformers in the system and replace 2,700 existing transformers of lower capacity with those of higher capacity. Making special efforts to accelerate the pace of releasing new connections, the power distribution corporations released 85,000 new power connections during the past seven months, including over 5,200 tubewell connections. A scheme has also been launched to give domestic and non-domestic connections on the spot by holding camps in selected villages. Aim of the scheme is to dissuade the people from using electricity through illegal “kundi” connections and to provide a regular electricity connection to villagers without any delay. |
