Kranti Yatra result of Cong factionalism, Fatehabad, August 10 Talking to mediapersons here today, Mr Sampat Singh remarked that the Congress was not organising the yatras for the welfare of the people. He said it was the factionalism in the party which was driving various factions to use such tactics. The INLD leader said the Congress in Haryana was playing ‘league matches’ in which their players were playing intra-party matches. Their purpose was to defeat their own players, he said, and added that the INLD does not face any challenge from the Congress. Mr Sampat Singh said a strong opposition was a prerequisite of a healthy democracy. But it was the misfortune of the INLD government in the state and people of Haryana that there was no opposition worth the name, he added. The Finance Minister said the Congress first announced that they would organise “jail bharo andolan” in the state. But when Mr Om Prakash Chautala said the jails in the state were ready to welcome the Congressmen, the latter backed out and said it had postponed the agitation in view of the summer season. The INLD leader mocked the Congress’ repeated postponement of the agitation by saying that one need not find a good ‘mahurat’ for launching an agitation. Mr Sampat Singh claimed that the INLD had been able to establish itself as a third force in Rajasthan. He said the party had not set any target for Rajasthan. At the moment the INLD was only working for mobilising peoples. The party would set its targets once the elections draw closer, he added. Later, he listened to public grievances at Bhattu Kalan village in the district. |
