NGO demands improved rail services

Nawashahr, June 24
A deputation of local NGO Jago Nawanshahr Jago Society submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Railways Manager (DRM),Ferozepur, yesterday.  The deputation included Nirmal Singh Rehal, Balraj Singh Mann, Gurwinder Singh, Vivek Kumra, Jaswant Singh Bhatti, Vasdev Pardesi and Dr Kamaljit Lal, They urged him to restore the trains which were suspended because of terrorism as well as to start a new train from Nawanshahr  to Amritsar.
The NGO has been getting resolutions passed by village panchayats and municipal council as well as contacting MPs and MLAs for fulfilling the demand of restoring suspended trains and starting rail services from Nawanshahr to Amritsar. 

Man found dead in choe 

Hoshiarpur, June 24
The body of Surinder Singh (32) of Dugglan was found in Koompur Choe (a seasonal rivulet) this morning.  The police said Surinder Singh left his house last evening but did not return. Celphos tablets were found near his body. The Dasuya police has sent the body to the Civil Hospital for postmortem.
One booked for dowry The Sadar police yesterday booked Suraj of Chuggiti Chowk, Jalandhar for torturing and maltreating his wife Neha for bringing dowry from her parents. Man booked for fraud The police booked Kuljit Singh, resident of Darapur Road, Urmur under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC last night. The police said Kashmir Kaur of Hussainpur Lalowal alleged that Kuljit Singh took Rs 1 lakh from her to send her son Jaspreet Singh to Canada. But neither did he send her son to Canada, nor returned her money.
