Man crushed to death

Balbir Singh (35), a resident of Chatiwind (Amritsar) village died on the spot in a road accident here last evening. The city police has registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279 of the IPC in this regar.

An unidentified devotee, aged 30, died of extreme heat at the Manji Sahib Diwan Hall of the local Sri Darbar Sahib here late last evening.

Sanjha Morcha holds dharna to protest police ‘inaction’
Nawanshahr, June 11
Activists of different political parties under the banner of the Sanjha Morcha today held a dharna in front of the Pojewal police station to protest against the failure of the police to nab the accused in the Chhuchhewal sarpanch suicide case. Former MLAs Ram Kishan Kataria, Shingara Ram Sahungra, district Congress president Satvir Singh Palli Jhikki, Rajwinder Singh Lucky, Ashok Nanowal, Bimal Kumar, Darshan Singh Mattoo, Mahan Singh Rouri addressed the dharna. They threatened to intensify the stir if the police failed to nab the accused by June 15.

Man crushed to death

Balbir Singh (35), a resident of Chatiwind (Amritsar) village died on the spot in a road accident here last evening.

The city police has registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279 of the IPC in this regar.

The victim was going to the Patti side on his motorcycle. When he approached the T-Point Sarhali at the local bypass, some truck crushed him badly.

An unidentified devotee, aged 30, died of extreme heat at the Manji Sahib Diwan Hall of the local Sri Darbar Sahib here late last evening.

The city police has lodged a report under Section 174 of the CrPC in this regard.

The body was sent to the local Civil Hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, Parkash Gardhiwal, member, Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, visited the residence of the deceased sarpanch to express his condolences.

Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Punjab Youth Congress chief, also met the sarpanch's family. He condemned the rise in cases of political vendetta against Congress workers.
