Head Constable jumps into Harike canal

Tarn Taran, June 7
Lakhwinder Singh (52), a Punjab police Head Constable, is feared to have committed suicide by jumping into Harike canal, 35 kilometres from here.

However, his body could not be recovered till the filing of news report. He was reportedly mentally disturbed for long. A resident of Varnala village near Valtoha, Laklhwinder was posted at the Bhikhwind police station and was on his duty at Government Poly Technical Institution, Bhikhiwind.

He left for Harike from his workplace this afternoon.

He placed his service rifle and identity card on the banks of the canal and jumped into the water.
