Man booked for molesting girl in Tarn Taran

Sona Singh, a resident of Allia village, 30 km from here, has been booked under Sections 354 A and 506 of the IPC for molesting a teenaged girl of the same village. The victim, in her complaint to the police, alleged that she was sleeping with her aunt when the accused entered her house and molested her. The accused ran away when her aunt woke up.

Woman strangled to death by in-laws
Hoshiarpur, May 29
A woman was strangled to death by her in-laws at Sehjowal village yesterday. According to police sources, Satwinder Kaur, daughter of Pannu Ram of Chukiara (Jalandhar) village, was married to Manjit Singh, son of Jagan Nath of Sehjowal village, about 12 years ago.

Man booked for molesting girl in Tarn Taran

Sona Singh, a resident of Allia village, 30 km from here, has been booked under Sections 354 A and 506 of the IPC for molesting a teenaged girl of the same village. The victim, in her complaint to the police, alleged that she was sleeping with her aunt when the accused entered her house and molested her. The accused ran away when her aunt woke up.

Four booked for looting, firing

The four accused, who had reportedly fired and looted a number of houses in Kasel village, 30 km from here, five days ago, have been booked under Sections 427, 148, 149, 506, 380 of the IPC, and 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act by the Sarai Amanat Khan police.

According to information, the accused have been identified as Lali, Sonu, Rajdeep Singh and Shanni.

Captain Singh and other residents of the village had been going from pillar to post to get the case registered against the accused, as the accused had been evading the action due to their political influence.

The accused were armed with weapons and after beating a shopkeeper, they looted a cash of Rs. 50,000 and gold ornaments worth three tolas on pistol point from Lakhwinder Kaur, wife of Baldev Singh.

The accused then looted gold ornaments from the house of Baljit Kaur and torn her garments. The accused also ransacked her house.

They also tried to abduct Gursharan Singh and Balraj Singh’s children when they were on their way back home from school.

The accused terrorised the villagers for more than two hours but the police not only failed to reach the spot, but also tried to hush up the case by delaying the registration of the case.

Woman strangled to death by in-laws

Hoshiarpur, May 29
A woman was strangled to death by her in-laws at Sehjowal village yesterday. According to police sources, Satwinder Kaur, daughter of Pannu Ram of Chukiara (Jalandhar) village, was married to Manjit Singh, son of Jagan Nath of Sehjowal village, about 12 years ago.

Her husband, Manjit Singh, brothers-in-law Daljit Singh and Surjit Singh, mother-in-law Karam Kaur, sisters-in-law Kulwinder Kaur and Kulwinder Kaur, allegedly used to torture and maltreat her since her marriage. Yesterday, they allegedly strangled her with a kerchief. After conducting the postmortem, the Bulhowal police handed over the body to her parents and has booked the accused under Section 306 of the IPC.
