Eight months after draw, allottees yet to get letters

Allottees of 114 residential plots of 125 sq yards each in the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Colony, developed by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT), are a harassed lot as even after eight months of the draw, the allotment letters have not been issued to them.
7-yr-old girl falls off roof, dies
Ludhiana, June 11
A seven-year-old girl died after falling from the roof of her house in Vijay Nagar in Janakpuri here today.
The victim has been identified as Payal. According to Payal's parents, she was playing with her friends when she slipped and fell from the roof. She was taken to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Graft charge against ASI

The role of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), who was earlier posted at the Sudhar police station, has come under the scanner for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 to release a 22-year-old youth arrested on a charge of taking drugs.

A man has allegedly uploaded his wife's obscene pictures on the Internet. The city police has booked the man for blackmailing his wife by uploading her obscene pictures on the Internet.
Two suicide cases reported from city
Ludhiana, June 11
Two suicide cases were reported from different parts of the city today. In the first incident a 34-year-old man, identified as Charanjit Kumar of Rishi Nagar, reportedly committed suicide by taking pesticides at his house late last night.
MC floats tenders for biometric attendance machines

To keep a check on the latecomers, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has floated tenders for the installation of biometric attendance machines in all its offices. The proposal for the installation of biometric machines was mooted several times in the past, but tenders have been floated for the first time.

No rationalisation policy till July15
Ludhiana, June 11
Keeping in mind the admission process going on in schools, Education Minister Sikandar Singh Maluka has announced that the rationalisation policy will be halted till July 15.
The leaders of various teachers' associations and unions said about eight months back the department had done the rationalization.

Plan to cultivate maize on 10,250 acres
Ludhiana, June 11
Punjab Agriculture Department is all set to promote maize cultivation in the state. The Agriculture Department has a target to get the maize cultivated on 10,250 acres of the district.
The Punjab government has hired two private companies to provide the seed to the farmers at their door steps under the project.

Street vendors seek vending zones, threaten agitation

In pursuance of their demand for the formation of a town vending committee and vending zones in the city, the National Association of Street Vendors of India, along with the Ludhiana Rehri Farhi Federation, has announced that if their demands are not met by June 20, the street vendors will launch a protest from June 21. |

SHO among three cops booked on charge of embezzlement

Four held for woman's murder

Illicit liquor seized

Personnel of the Excise and Taxation Department today seized 11 cases of illicit liquor from a person, who has been identified as Mohan Lal from Fountain
