Thieves strike at four houses

Jalandhar, June 21
With thieves having struck at four houses in Jaimal Nagar in just one night, the incident has left residents of the area terrorised.

The thieves broke open almirahs in all houses and decamped with whatever cash was quickly available to them. Among those whose houses were vandalised was that of head constable Gurvinder Singh, deployed with the police control room. He said his family was sleeping when the thieves broke the locks and took away Rs 15,000. Sandeep Kumar, another victim, said he was away to attend a marriage when the incident occurred. “We saw the locks of the almirah broken and Rs 8000 missing,” he said. The thieves also stole cash and silver ornaments from the house of Thakur Prasad. The locks of gates of another house in the colony were found to be broken, but the attempt remained unsuccessful at the fourth point. — TNS
