Three killed in accidents

Phagwara, June 18
Three persons, including two labourers, were killed in two different mishaps here last evening.

In the first incident, two labourers, identified as Azad of Dakoha village and Tariq of Jalandhar, who were on their way to Jalandhar on a scooter, were killed when their scooter was hit by a speeding vehicle near Chachrari village on the national highways.

Azad died on the spot, while Tariq succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital. The vehicle driver managed to flee. The police has registered a case against the driver.

In the second incident, Sumer Chand of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar (Tibbi) was electrocuted at a restaurant here on Sunday evening. The deceased, a cook, was electrocuted when he was opening the door of a refrigerator to take. He was immediately taken to the civil hospital where he was declared dead.

Drug peddler held

Phagwara: The police yesterday arrested a drug peddler, identified as Buta Singh of Jhingrrian village, and recovered five gram of heroin from his possession. The accused was arrested at a naka near Narangshahpur village.
