Keeping in view the necessity of providing accessibility to lakhs of residents in these colonies, we will construct double-lane steel-girder bridge across old course of Najafgarh drain at a cost of Rs 5 crore to provide relief to the residents of surrounding areas by providing connectively to them from Wazirabad to Outer Ring Road and Wazirabad road," he said. The state government will also carry out demolition and reconstruction of four bridges at Bawana drain at a cost of Rs 2.56 crore. He said that the improvement of phirni road from Bawana Road to Knajhawala Qutubgarh at Kanjahwala village is under progress. It will bypass traffic from Kanjhawala-Qutubgarh side to Bawana-Kanjhawala side. The proposed bridges will facilitate the commuters of the area. Dr. Walia further added that a bridge will be constructed downstream G.T. Road Bridge near Budhpur village. Presently, the villagers have to cross Bawana drain to reach the cremation ground as there is no permanent structure on approach of cremation ground. |

Police gets 370 more PCR vans
New Delhi, June 24 Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde flagged off 100 vehicles, which are fitted with global positioning system and mobile phones to enhance their efficiency. The PCR vehicles are Toyota Innovas that were flagged off from India Gate at 11 am. With the induction of the 370 vehicles, the total strength of the PCR vehicles has reached 1,000, but about 60 are still condemned. There is also a lack of drivers and gunmen and the police are trying to meet the demands from its units. Shinde said the number of PCR vans has been increased as they act as first responders when a victim approaches the police. "The new vehicles will hopefully reduce the response time of eight to 10 minutes, but this will also depend on police officials' efficiency. But we also need to acknowledge that law and order can not be taken care of by policing alone; we need public awareness at all levels," he said. Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar at the venue said the vans will be used to patrol vulnerable locations in the city, which are frequented by women. These will also be deployed outside girls' schools and colleges at the opening and closing times, he added. Kumar said 426 criminals were caught red-handed by the PCR teams in 2012, including 28 robbers, 103 snatchers, 18 bootleggers and 120 vehicle thieves. |
Breakdown in Noida segment causes outages in E. Delhi
New Delhi, June 24 This is constraining the flow of electricity to Ghazipur Grid, which in turn feeds electricity to Patparganj, Ghazipur and the Mayur Vihar areas of BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL). This has been sporadically affecting power supply in parts of east Delhi for the last few days. "The initial attempts to repair the transmission line have proved unsuccessful. Another attempt was made today, to repair the line," said a senior BYPL official. He said that DTL had loaned 220 KV "jointing kits" and "cable spools" to UPPCL for fixing this issue. It was expected that UPPCL will be able to restore the 220 KV line in a couple of days. But this did not happen. In order to minimize the impact of this transmission constraint, BYPL continues to divert power from other sources, to the extent possible. The impact of the transmission constraint gets magnified, especially during the peak hours, and it gets difficult to back feed the entire area. "BYPL is doing its best to back feed these areas to the fullest extent possible. BYPL has resorted to some rotational loadshedding in a few pockets of Ghazipur, Patparganj and Mayur Vihar during the intervening period," said the official. |
