New Delhi, March 14
A section of auto drivers under the banner of an NGO, Nyayabhoomi, gathered at Ambedkar Bhawan, announcing a poster campaign against Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal.

Accusing Kejriwal of betraying their trust, the auto drivers said that in its 49-day rule, the AAP government did not take even a single step that would benefit auto drivers. They listed the promises made by Kejriwal before elections such as arrest of auto finance mafia, creation of thousands of auto stands, rationalisation of auto fare, bank loan facilities, easing of permit conditions, etc. and said that none of the promises was fulfiled.

"Kejriwal used auto drivers and exploited them emotionally, but did not deliver anything other than speeches and promises to them," said Shailendra Sharma, an auto driver who claimed to be associated with Kejriwal during the campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections.

"We feel cheated and Kejriwal lied to us when he addressed a rally of auto drivers in Burari on February 7 by claiming that "Our autos will not be impounded on small excuses. The fact is that the autos continue to be impounded and auto drivers are paying fines in excess of Rs 10,000," rued Satish Saluja, another auto driver.

"We will fix these posters on every other autorickshaw within the next 10 days in Delhi," stated the secretary of the NGO Rakesh Agarwal.

New Delhi, March 14
The BJP in dilemma over candidates' selection in Chandni Chowk and South Delhi parliamentary constituencies, sources in the party said today.

According to the sources, there are three probable candidates in South Delhi - Ramesh Bidhuri, who had lost the previous election but had strong network in the constituency, Sarita Chaudhary, who is Mayor and a senior councilor in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation and the third one is Dr Anil Jain, national party secretary. Dr. Jain is considered close to the party national president, Rajnath Singh.

The sources said that the party high command seriously thought that if the ticket was given to Sarita Chaudhary, there were chances that the BJP might lose the seat as certain section of local workers might oppose her candidature. In the last election when Bidhuri had contested on the BJP ticket, Sarita Chaudhary had supported him, but now both belonged to different camps.

As far as Dr. Jain is considered, he belongs to the Jain community that is not an election factor in the constituency. The constituency consists of the OBCs, Scheduled Castes, Brahmins, Gujjars, Muslims, Punjabis, and the Jats. Both Bidhuri and Sarita belong to the Gujjar community. Bidhuri has been representing the Badarpur seat in the Delhi Legislative Assembly for the past three terms while Sarita Chaudhary has been councilor.

As far as Chandni Chowk is concerned the probable candidates are Vijender Gupta, Nalin Kohli and Sudhanshu Mittal. Names of Gupta and Mittal are subject of discussion in the party. Gupta had contested unsuccessfully in last election, but a section of the party was supporting his candidature on the ground of his work when he was president of the Delhi unit of the BJP.

Another group supports Mittal, claiming that his management is good. If given ticket, he can be a toughest candidate against sitting Congress MP Kapil Sibal and AAP candidate Ashutosh. Though the Congress has yet not announced Sibal's name, but he has started campaigning with the help of e-rickashaws that carry his posters.

The AAP candidate had organized a number of meetings in different assembly segments.

Tribune News Service

New Delhi, March 14
A German woman, who is pursuing an internship in Delhi, was allegedly molested by an auto-rickshaw driver and was robbed by another in Lajpat Nagar, Southeast Delhi, on the night of March 8.

The victim, who is in her late twenties, was hesitant to report the matter to the police. Her friends encouraged her to pursue the matter and she approached the police on Wednesday.

The woman has been pursuing an internship in Delhi for the past four months. She was to leave for Germany next month.

About 9.45 pm on March 8, the woman had hired an auto-rickshaw from outside Max Mueller Bhawan at Feroz Shah Road. She was heading to her rented accommodation in Greater Kailash, South Delhi.

As it was her usual habit, she turned on the GPS on her phone when she boarded the auto-rickshaw. The driver halted the vehicle at Lajpat Nagar about 10.30 pm, claiming that he needed to take out a tool from a pocket beneath the seat occupied by the woman. "The woman has complained that the driver began groping her on the pretext of searching for the tool," said a senior police officer.

The woman shocked by the driver's behaviour, jumped out of the auto-rickshaw. She shouted for help. Within a few minutes, another auto-rickshaw arrived at the site of the incident. The driver of that auto-rickshaw allegedly snatched her purse from her hand and fled.

The woman claims that she chased the vehicle to note its registration number. But due to the poor lighting in the area, she could not see the number. She rushed back to find that the other driver had also fled. The woman said that she walked to her house.

She narrated the incident to some of her friends, who suggested her to file a police complaint. It was on their suggestion that she lodged a formal complaint at the Barakhamba Road police station on Wednesday.

The police said that a case has been registered under Sections 354A and of snatching, IPC. Section 354A is meant for the offence of "physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures".
