Fog posts, speed limit for trains
Phagwara, November 15
Northern Railways has set up ‘fog signal posts’ near all railway stations to ensure smooth running of trains during fog. Stating this, sources in the railways said railway employees would give clearance signals to train drivers by bursting crackers on railway lines during fog.

3 sentenced to 7-yr RI
Hoshiarpur, November 15
JS Bhinder, Additional District and Session Judge, Hoshiarpur, sentenced Lakhwinder Singh, his father Amarjit Singh and mother Kuldip Kaur of Salempur (Tanda), to 7 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) under section 304 B (dowry death) of the IPC, for killing Rajwinder Kaur of Saidpur.

Factory store burgled
Nawanshahr, November 15
Some unidentified miscreants allegedly committed burglary at Shivalik Hydro Private Ltd, Rail Mazra, on the Nawanshahr - Chandigarh highway. The Kathgarh police has registered a case under sections 457 / 380 of IPC, on the complaint of factory manager Gurpreet Singh.

Fog posts, speed limit for trains

Phagwara, November 15
Northern Railways has set up ‘fog signal posts’ near all railway stations to ensure smooth running of trains during fog. Stating this, sources in the railways said railway employees would give clearance signals to train drivers by bursting crackers on railway lines during fog.

Also, the authorities have reduced the maximum speed limit of all diesel multiple unit (DMU) trains due to security reasons. Sources said all DMUs could not run at the maximum speed of 100 km per hour. — OC

3 sentenced to 7-yr RI

Hoshiarpur, November 15
JS Bhinder, Additional District and Session Judge, Hoshiarpur, sentenced Lakhwinder Singh, his father Amarjit Singh and mother Kuldip Kaur of Salempur (Tanda), to 7 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) under section 304 B (dowry death) of the IPC, for killing Rajwinder Kaur of Saidpur.

He has also fined all convicts of Rs 2,000 each and in case of non-payment of fine they would have to undergo further imprisonment of one year.

According to the prosecution report, Rajwinder was married to Lakhwinder on November 23, 2008. Lakhwinder, Amarjit and Kuldip used to torture and maltreat her for bringing dowry from her parents. After the marriage, she was blessed with a son. On November 24, 2009 Rajwinder's mother Nirmal Kaur of Saidpur received a telephonic message that her daughter was critical. When she reached her daughter's house she found her dead.

According to the medical report, Rajwinder died due to consumption of some poisonous substance. Her mother alleged that due to non fulfillment of the demand of dowry, her daughter's in-laws had killed her daughter by giving her poison.

Factory store burgled

Nawanshahr, November 15
Some unidentified miscreants allegedly committed burglary at Shivalik Hydro Private Ltd, Rail Mazra, on the Nawanshahr - Chandigarh highway. The Kathgarh police has registered a case under sections 457 / 380 of IPC, on the complaint of factory manager Gurpreet Singh. 

He stated that the factory was closed due to Divali for a couple of days. Today, the store keeper saw the door of the store closed from inside. He informed Singh and they managed to open it. They found that miscreants had broken in and goods from the store were missing.
