Bus operators sore about hike in 'adda' fees
Our Correspondent

Tarn Taran, November 4
Operators of private buses are up in arms against the administration over the hike in "adda" fees at the local bus stand.

In a letter issued by Maninderpal Singh, General Manager (GM) of the local roadways depot, the "adda" fees for the mini-bus had been increased from Rs 7.50 to Rs 20 and for normal bus from Rs 15 to Rs 40.

The GM, when contacted, said the Deputy Commissioner, who had issued a notification in this regard, had done so accordingly to the instructions of the state government. He said at so many other bus stands the fees had already been hiked.

The operators of mini-buses and normal buses were plying their vehicles from outside the bus stand and denying to pay adda fees. As a result they were causing loss of lakhs of rupees to the state exchequer.

The GM said he had written a letter to the Regional Transport Authorities (RTA) to cancel the permits of the buses, whose operators were denying to pay "adda" fess.
