NRI's kin allege threats by proclaimed offender
Gurdaspur, October 31
The infamous NRI murder case, in which Canada-based Gurinder Singh Gill was murdered in broad daylight outside the court complex in Batala in September last year, is in the limelight once again, with the victim's mother claiming that one of the accused, Yadvinder Singh Bhullar, was threatening them so that they turn hostile. Parkash Kaur, Gurinder Singh Gill's mother, claimed that despite the fact that over a year had elapsed since her son was done to death, the police had yet to arrest one of the main accused,Yadvinder Singh Bhullar.

Three drug peddlers held
Phagwara, October 31 The police today arrested three drug peddlers identified as Rajwinder Singh, alias Raji, of Nangal Majha village, Harjit Singh, alias Jeeta, of Bhabhiana village and Karamjit Singh of Tanuli village, PS Mehtiana.

The infamous NRI murder case, in which Canada-based Gurinder Singh Gill was murdered in broad daylight outside the court complex in Batala in September last year, is in the limelight once again, with the victim's mother claiming that one of the accused, Yadvinder Singh Bhullar, was threatening them so that they turn hostile.

Parkash Kaur, Gurinder Singh Gill's mother, claimed that despite the fact that over a year had elapsed since her son was done to death, the police had yet to arrest one of the main accused,Yadvinder Singh Bhullar. Incidentally, Bhullar has been declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by the Batala police. All other accused, including Rajbir Singh Bhullar, a BJP municipal councillor from Batala, Jarnail Singh, Rajbir Singh Raju and Sandeep Vijay Singh, are cooling their heels in the Gurdaspur jail.

The case is being heard in the court of the District and Sessions Judge and the next date of hearing is slated for tomorrow. — TNS

Three drug peddlers held

Phagwara, October 31
The police today arrested three drug peddlers identified as Rajwinder Singh, alias Raji, of Nangal Majha village, Harjit Singh, alias Jeeta, of Bhabhiana village and Karamjit Singh of Tanuli village, PS Mehtiana.

The police also seized 35 grams of heroin and a motorcycle from their possession. HPS Khakh, SP, Phagwara, said the accused were produced before the Phagwara Judicial Magistrate who sent them to judicial jail. — OC
