Power thieves fined Rs 5.38 crore
Tarn Taran, November 2
Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has imposed a fine of Rs. 5.38 crore to the customers, who stole electricity, during the past seven months in the circle. Jagjit Singh Suchu, Deputy Chief Engineer of the local circle of the power corporation, said teams of PSPCL checked as many as 2,331 connections and imposed fines worth Rs 5.38 crore out of which an amount of Rs 2.35 crore was collected on the spot. Abduction, rape case solved
Nawanshahr, November 2
The police has succeeded in solving the case of alleged abduction and rape of a minor girl of nearby Karyam village by arresting two youths, identified as Rajnit Singh of Shahpur Patti village and Amrik Singh of Niyamatpur village, within 24 hours of the crime. A case under Sections 363, 366 A, 506 and 34 of the IPC was registered on Wednesday. The girl has been rescued and handed over to her parents after getting her medical examination conducted. — OC
