Delhi meets STB target
New Delhi, November 2 Chief Secretary P. K. Tripathi said that the Union Government took the decision of switching over from the existing analogue cable television network to the DAS. The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995, was then amended making, inter alia, mandatory switchover of the analogue cable television network in Delhi. There will be a complete blackout of cable TV for the viewers who do not have the set top box. The Chief Secretary said that the DAS system essentially means that all the television channels on cable networks would be in digital (encrypted form) and a viewer of cable television will require an STB to be attached to his TV set in order to watch programmes. Any complaints regarding carrying signal on analogue mode should be made to the SDM concerned. The contact numbers and e-mail addresses of the SDMs are available at the Divisional Commissioner, Delhi website. Besides, the Department of Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Taxes has set up a control room to receive complaints about overcharging for providing a set top box. The control room will be headed by an assistant entertainment tax officer and the complaint may be made during the office hours between 9.30 am and 6.00 pm on the telephone number 23370262. |
