Mandip Kaur, wife of Jarnail Singh of Dadiana Khurd village, was allegedly set ablaze by her brother-in-law Karnail Singh, his son Sabhi and sister-in-law Soma, all of the same village, at her residence yesterday.

According to police sources, Mandip Kaur stated that her husband Jarnail Singh was working in the Sonalika Group of Industries and went for his daily duty as usual. As soon as she opened the door, Karnail Singh, his son Sabhi and Soma pushed her, due to which she fell on the floor. They sprinkled kerosene on her and set her ablaze. After setting her on fire, the trio fled from the scene.

She raised an alarm and came out of the house and knocked the door of her neighbours. Her neighbours, Gurdev Singh and his wife Bholi, came out from their house and extinguished the fire. But some parts of her body and legs were badly burnt. She alleged that due to family "property division" her brother-in-law and sister-in-law set her on fire.

The Hariana police has registered a case under Sections 307, 451 and 34 of the IPC.
