Man commits suicide
Tarn Taran, July 15
Daljit Singh (22), a resident of Pandori Gola village, 6 km from here, who had injected himself with some poisonous liquid on July 13, died at Guru Ram Das Hospital, Amritsar, today morning. Daljit was under depression since June 21 after the death of his wife Rajwinder Kaur (21).

Two held with heroin
Phagwara, July 15
The police has arrested two drug peddlers, identified as Kajal and Amarjit Singh of local Mansa Devi Nagar, and seized 95 g of heroin from their possession yesterday. The police said the woman was nabbed with 70 g of heroin by the CIA staff of the police.

Two booked for murder attempt
Hoshiarpur, July 15
The city police booked Raj Kumar of Balmik Mohalla, and another unidentified accomplice under Sections 307, 353, 186, 427 and 279 of the IPC last night. Police sources said Sukhwinder Singh, SHO of city police station, along with a police party, was present at local Sadar police station chowk. On seeing a Balero jeep, which was being rashly driven by Raj Kumar, the police party signalled the driver to stop.

Residents nab two snatchers
Hoshiarpur, July 15
Two snatchers, who snatched a gold chain from the neck of Navjot Kaur of local Sanchar Colony last night, were caught by people near local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk.

Man commits suicide

Daljit Singh (22), a resident of Pandori Gola village, 6 km from here, who had injected himself with some poisonous liquid on July 13, died at Guru Ram Das Hospital, Amritsar, today morning. Daljit was under depression since June 21 after the death of his wife Rajwinder Kaur (21).

A suicide note has been recovered from the bedside of the deceased, Daljit Singh. On the basis of the suicide note, the local Sadar police has registered a case under Section 306 of the IPC against six members of his in-laws’ family.

The accused have been identified as Milkha Singh, his wife Rano, a resident of Harike, daughter Manjinder kaur and son-in-law Satnam Singh and another member Harkanwal Singh.

The father of Rajwinder Kaur had expired when she was just a few months old and her mother got herself remarried leaving behind her at Harike where she was brought up by Milkha Singh, her parental uncle.

Rajwinder was married to Daljit just eight months ago. Daljit, along with his elder brother Manjinder Singh and brother-in-law (Rajwinder Kaur’s brother), had gone to pay obeisance at Sri Hemkunt Sahib when Rajwinder Kaur died under mysterious circumstances on June 21.

Two held with heroin

The police has arrested two drug peddlers, identified as Kajal and Amarjit Singh of local Mansa Devi Nagar, and seized 95 g of heroin from their possession yesterday. The police said the woman was nabbed with 70 g of heroin by the CIA staff of the police.

The woman confessed that she brought the heroin from Atari to sell it among drug addicts here. The police recovered 25 g of heroin from the other drug peddler Amarjit. In another case, the police arrested Paramjit Singh of local Onkar Nagar and seized huge quantity of liquor from his car number. — OC

Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver of the jeep attempted to crush ASI Sarabjit Singh. Sarabjit Singh jumped aside to save his life. Due to high speed, the jeep driver rammed the vehicle into a police vehicle. However, the jeep driver managed to flee in his vehicle.

Residents nab two snatchers

Hoshiarpur, July 15
Two snatchers, who snatched a gold chain from the neck of Navjot Kaur of local Sanchar Colony last night, were caught by people near local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk.

Police sources said Navjot Kaur along with her sister was returning to her house on her Activa scooter from Railway Mandi. When she reached near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, two youths on a motorcycle appeared before her and snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled.

Navjot Kaur raised an alarm and chased them on her Activa scooter. While fleeing, the robbers struck in the traffic jam and she along with the help of the passersby caught them. Later, both were handed over to the police.

The city police has arrested the robbers, identified as Kiran Kumar of local Mohalla Fatehgarh and Manoj Kumar of local Ranjit Nagar, under Sections 382 and 34 of the IPC.
