Novel protest: ETT teachers to follow CM wherever he goes
Jalandhar, October 2 Despite the fact that formal orders on the front have been issued to 6,000 teachers by the government, none of them have been shifted to the education department so far. Irked by the government’s inaction, the union has held repeated protests and dharnas. In the meeting today, union members decided a novel way of protesting - following the CM on his visits, wherever he goes. From October 8 onwards, they will embark on this mode of protest. Interestingly, during the union’s last (bare-busted) protest, on September 28, the government had given in to another of the union’s vital demand - of the constitution of a directorate for the teachers not covered under the shifting orders. Though the CM had agreed to the demand of the setting up of the directorate, talking to The Tribune, state leader of the union, Ranjit Singh Bath said though we wanted that 2,600 head teachers (HT) and 1,200 (CHT) centre head teachers be moved to the directorate, only 618 HTs and 263 CHTs have received the green signal so far. Other demands like changing of the salary head of the teachers and issuance of CBS accounts to teachers also remain pending until now. |
