Two dead, 7 hurt as truck goes on a rampage

Two truck drivers were killed following a head-on collision between their vehicles near Dinanagar, about 26 Km from here on the Pathankot-Amritsar road last night.

Youth booked for chopping off mother’s forearm
Jalandhar, September 10
The police are searching for the youth who allegedly chopped off a forearm of his mother and left his maternal grandmother wounded on Thursday night.

Two dead, 7 hurt as truck goes on a rampage

Two persons were killed and seven others wounded in a collision among three vehicles near Subhanpur on Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Raman Kumar and Swaran Ram, both residents of Daduwal village near Nakodar. Both of them were devotees of Radha Soami Dera. They were going to Dera Radha Soami at Beas on their motorcycle when a truck hit their vehicle leaving them spot dead.

The truck then hit a jeep carrying the devotees to Dera Radha Soami in which seven persons sustained injures. The wounded persons were admitted to a nearby hospital.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered at concerned Subhanpur police station in this regard against the driver of the four wheeler driver who fled away from the spot.

Two truck drivers were killed following a head-on collision between their vehicles near Dinanagar, about 26 Km from here on the Pathankot-Amritsar road last night.
According to police sources, a truck (JK-02-A-2717) was on its way from Jammu to Amritsar and as it reached near SSM College, Dinanagar, another truck (HR-38-C-9013) coming from the opposite side rammed into it. Both the drivers were killed on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Karam Singh resident of Murli chowk, Hiranagar (J&K) and Dalbir Singh resident of Naowali, Jammu (J&K). After conducting the post-mortem examination, bodies were handed over to the family members of the deceased today.

Youth booked for chopping off mother’s forearm

Jalandhar, September 10
The police are searching for the youth who allegedly chopped off a forearm of his mother and left his maternal grandmother wounded on Thursday night.
A case has been registered under Sections 307 and 326 of the IPC against Kamaljit Singh, the accused, at Rama Mandi police station, on Saturday.

The incident occurred in Rama Mandi Railway Colony where victims, Karamjit Kaur and her mother Nirmal Kaur, were living.

The Station House Officer (SHO) Rama Mandi, Barjinder Singh, revealed that raids are conducted at the possible hideouts.

He added that a police was sent to his residence where his grandparents were quizzed, along with their neighbours, about Kamaljit Singh.

The victims alleged that Kamaljit Singh used to visit his mother Karamjit Kaur’ and used to take money from her. He used to pressurise her to transfer a part of her land in his name.

Sources said that Kamaljit Singh committed the heinous crime in an inebriated condition.

Eight booked for attack on sarpanch

Eight persons have been booked by the Sadar police for injuring Jaswant Singh, sarpanch of Kad Gill village, five kilometres from here.
The police identified five accused as Ranjit Singh Rana, Jagtar Singh, Manjinder Singh, Mukhtiar Singh and Harwinder Singh. Three others are yet to be recognised.

However, a case was registered only on Wednesday.

While returning home, three unidentified persons stopped the sarpanch and opened fire at him.

As he tried to escape, the five identified accused, who were stationed a few yards away, attacked him with their weapons.

Jagtar Singh then shot at the sarpanch with his rifle.

The sarpanch was admitted in a serious condition to Amandeep Hospital in Amritsar. 

Two held with intoxicants

Nakodar, September 10
The police arrested a man with intoxicants here on Saturday. A case under section 22, 61, 85 of NDPS Act has been registered against him.

SHO Gurmeet Singh said man was nabbed by the patrolling team of the police near Nawa Kila village in Shahkot. The accused is a resident of Patti Laksian village.The Shahkot police on Saturday arrested a proclaimed offender, identified as Lakhbir Singh. Several criminal cases, including smuggling of opium and theft, had been registered against him in Dhilwan and Bathinda police station. He is a resident of Killi village, Shahkot. — OC

Man assaulted

Hoshiarpur: The police has booked Chhinder Pal of Sakruli village and his three accomplices under Sections 307, 379, 341 and 34 of the IPC for allegedly assaulting Sudarshan, and snatching Rs 10,000, one gold ring and his mobile, while he was going home.
