Kohar hits back, suggests Dahyia stick to medicine
Nakodar September 7 “Dahyia is a doctor by profession, I personally suggest that nhe should pay heed to his practice rather than giving cheap statements in the press,”said Kohar, while talking to The Tribune. He said if a person did two jobs at one time, he would definitely land in trouble and lack of medical knowledge might land his patients in trouble. Kohar said, Dahyia was new to politics and he didn’t even know the alphabet of politics and he was giving such a big statements, it was really ridiculous. When questioned about the media reports which stated that the minister had played a major role in the recruitments and transfers of tehsildar and naib-Tehsildar and money exchange hands in the process, he categorically denied all charges and said, it was upto the state government to appoint the abovementioned officials and he had no authority for the same. He lamented, “Who is Dahyia to ask me to resign on moral grounds as Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia did”. While addressing the gathering at village Bahmnia in Shahkot, along with the candidate of SGPC elections, he lashed out at Captain Amarinder Singh for his deliberate endeavours to scuttle and postpone the SGPC elections, he said, “The SGPC elections are concerned with the management of Sikh religion and its sentiments, as the SAD has been managing its affairs for a long time, so the Congress and agents of the Congress have not right invade its management”. |

More women take to self-termination of pregnancy
Jalandhar, september 7 On the flip side, the shocking fact is that the number of cases, coming to the clinics with incomplete pregnancy and medical emergencies resulting due to over dose of such hormones containing pills, is rapidly rising. The alarming revelation was made by some city-based gynaecologists, when asked about the frequency of use of pregnancy termination pills by the young girls and middle-aged women. “The pills are easily available at each chemist shop. Everybody knows that such pills can abort the foetus. But only a handful of them are aware of the fact that such pills could be used only up to a certain time limit, depending upon the maturity of foetus”, said Dr Kamal Gupta, patron, Jalandhar Chapter of Federation of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians of India (FOGSI). In over 90 per cent cases, women, especially young girls, take the pills even after 10-12 weeks of pregnancy and in most of the cases results are nearly fatal, she added. “As nearly all such cases report to the clinics in critical condition with heavy blood loss and hypovolemic shock, if rendered untreated, death is inevitable in all such cases”, added Dr Gupta. The city’s gynaecologists claimed that the womenfolk, has been pushed at the brink of a physiological hormonal threat, as doctors’ demand to put ban on “without prescription sale” of such pills went unheeded for the last few years. “Since the introduction of the pills in the market, the doctors have been demanding that the drugs should be put under the scheduled X category of the Drug and Cosmetics Act,” says a doctor.
