Need to fish out 40-yr-old blueprint on Yamuna waterfront

When the Central Government decides to redevelop the Yamuna waterfront, currently being cleared of squatters, it will need to dust out a 40-year-old blueprint drafted by Chief Architect Mansing M. Rana of the CPWD to create Shantivana, the memorial to Jawaharlal Nehru.

HC tells MCD to update GPF accounts

The Delhi High Court has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to credit the money, deducted from its employees salaries towards contribution to the General Provident Fund, to their GPF account and update their passbooks within four months.

Housewife gang raped by five
Sonepat, March 28
A young housewife was reportedly gang raped by five armed youths at Dhaturi village, about 10 km from here last night. According to a report, the assailants, who were armed with knives and other weapons, managed to escape after committing the crime.

Citizens plan PIL on erratic water supply
Sonepat, March 28
The Federation of Residents Welfare Association of Sonepat has constituted a five-member committee consisting of prominent citizens and lawyers for filing a public interest litigation in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the SE, Executive Engineer and other subordinate officials for stopping the supply of drinking water in the evening in areas falling in the old city, without any prior announcement in this regard.

A doctor in the ESI hospital in Sector-24 was beaten up by the relative of a patient brought in for treatment. An argument between the doctor and the relatives of the patient had led to the scuffle.

89 per cent of voters to use I-cards in Faridabad

Following the directives of the Election Commission to update the electoral rolls, about 89 per cent of the total voters in the Faridabad Lok Sabha constituency will be able to use their photo-identity cards to cast their votes in the forthcoming parliamentary polls.

All arrangements in place for procurement of wheat: DC
Sonepat, March 28
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the procurement of wheat during the current Rabi season from April 1. Stating this, the Deputy Commissioner, Mr M R Anand, told mediapersons here today that the state government has set up as many as 17 purchasing centres in addition to the existing foodgrains markets at Sonepat, Gohana and Ganaur in the district.

A youth, Krishan (23), was killed on the spot and another youth, Ajit (22), sustained serious injuries when a truck rammed into their tractor-trailer from the rear side on the GT Road near Rasoi village, about 15 km from here, last evening.

One dead, four hurt as truck rams into water tank
New Delhi, March 28
One person died and four others travelling in a truck were injured when the vehicle rammed into a water tank this afternoon in West Delhi. While Sonu (23) died on the spot, the four others who sustained serious injuries have been identified as Akilesh, Krati Lal, Sharath Pawar and Nelson.

The South-West district police today claimed to have arrested Sonu for allegedly murdering Raj Rani, a 70-year-old woman, and committing a robbery at her house in the Sarojini Nagar area on March 23.
