Same pattern for gurdwaras endorsed

Various Sikh organisations of Haryana, including the Haryana State Akali Dal, have endorsed the proposal for bringing uniformity in the administration and conduct of religious ceremonies at gurdwaras worldwide.

Maximum sanctioning limit raised

Dr M.L. Ranga, Haryana Minister of State for Health, today enhanced the maximum sanctioning limit of the head of office, head of department and the Administrative Secretary for immediate clearance of medical reimbursement bills of officers, employees, pensioners and family pensioners.

Youth held for raping minor
Sirsa, November 6
The police has arrested a youth allegedly involved in the rape of a minor and abduction of her uncle. According to a district police spokesperson, Rajesh, who was wanted in a case registered under Sections 63, 366, 365, 332, 353, 186, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC, was arrested yesterday.

Student commits suicide in hostel

Kurukshetra, November 6
A student of Kurukshetra University, Balwinder (21), allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance on the premises of Narahari Hostel here yesterday.

According to police sources, Balwinder who was visiting a friend at the hostel vomited in the hostel room in the absence of his friend. An electrician immediately informed some students and the hostel authorities. seeing the deteriorating condition of Balwinder, they took him to hospital where he collapsed.

The Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, Dr J.S. Kadiyan and hostel warden, Raj Kumar Deswal, among others, reached the hospital. Mr Deswal told mediapersons that Balwinder had come as a guest of his friend, Rajpal, who had handed over the room's key to Balwinder before leaving for home.

Dr Kadiyan said the room had been locked immediately after Balwinder was taken to the hospital and was opened in the presence of the hostel authorities and the university security staff, besides relatives of the deceased. The room was searched but no clue leading to the cause of the suicide was found. A piece of paper mentioning some medicines was found in the pocket of the victim.

Same pattern for gurdwaras endorsed

Various Sikh organisations of Haryana, including the Haryana State Akali Dal, have endorsed the proposal for bringing uniformity in the administration and conduct of religious ceremonies at gurdwaras worldwide.

In a resolution adopted at Gurdwara Patshahi 1 and Patshahi 10 on the occasion of the Kapal Mochan mela at Billaspur (Yamunanagar) today, the congregation by raising hands adopted the suggestion made at a meeting between SGPC chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra, and Mr Daljit Singh of the UK that all gurdwaras worldwide should follow a uniform policy with regard to the conduct of religious ceremonies as well as their administration.

The resolution was moved by Jathedar Kartar Singh Takkar of the Haryana State Shiromani Akali Dal. By another resolution, a separate Sikh gurdwara committee for Haryana was demanded. The congregation resolved that the existing system should continue till the new Gurdwara Act was passed.

Jathedar Takkar clarified that at the time of approving the draft for a new all-India gurdwara Bill, the proposal for a separate 50-member Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee would be included.

Maximum sanctioning limit raised

Dr M.L. Ranga, Haryana Minister of State for Health, today enhanced the maximum sanctioning limit of the head of office, head of department and the Administrative Secretary for immediate clearance of medical reimbursement bills of officers, employees, pensioners and family pensioners.

The head of office would henceforth have the power to reimburse bills upto Rs 10,000 against Rs 501 to Rs 1,000 earlier. Similarly, the head of a department would now have powers to clear such bills up to Rs 50,000 instead of Rs 1,001 to Rs 2,000 earlier.

The Administrative Secretaries would have full powers to clear such bills up to any extent.

Youth held for raping minor

Sirsa, November 6
The police has arrested a youth allegedly involved in the rape of a minor and abduction of her uncle.
According to a district police spokesperson, Rajesh, who was wanted in a case registered under Sections 63, 366, 365, 332, 353, 186, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC, was arrested yesterday.

The case was registered on the complaint of a gardener of the Haryana Tourism in which he alleged that his minor daughter, a student of class X, had been coaxed to elope by Rajesh on the night of October 22 this year.

Another case against Rajesh had been pending since August for assaulting and abducting Hari Ram, brother of the minor's father.

This case was registered on the complaint of Hari Ram, who alleged that Rajesh and Dharampal, along with four others, came to his place of duty in a van armed with weapons.

They asked for his younger brother (the minor's father) against whom they bore some grudge.

They then beat Hari Ram with iron rods and abducted him and later they threw him near Ganga village. — UNI

KU relaxation for re-evaluation candidates

The Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Dr A.K. Chawla has ordered under Section 11(5) of the K.U. Act in relaxation to the Clause-18.6 of “Re-evaluation of Answer Books” that the candidates whose results are declared late by this university consequent upon the re-evaluation will be allowed admission as one-time benefit/permission to B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Part-II & III Classes etc, within 15 working days from the declaration of the result but no such admission be made after November 30, if otherwise eligible and on payment of the late fees of Rs 800.

All Principals of the affiliated/maintained colleges except professional and B.Ed colleges of Kurukshetra University have been directed to take further action in the matter accordingly.

Kalpana’s husband to visit KU

Kurukshetra, November 6
Mr J.P. Harisan, husband of late Kalpana Chawla and William F. Readdy, Associate Administrator, office of the Space Flight Nasa Head Quarters would visit Kurukshetra University on November 13, said the Vice-Chancellor, Dr A.K. Chawla, here today.

During the visit of both scientists would address students, faculty members of the University and employees.
