Thousands of residents of at least 12 colonies near New Kitchlu Nagar are having a harrowing time as the local Municipal Corporation has started dumping garbage in an open place amidst a residential area.

‘VRS to improve efficiency in banks’

Sixtynine per cent of the bank officials in the city who opted for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) are satisfied with their decision.” This is the finding of a research study ‘VRS for bank officers : satisfaction and problems of optees,’ conducted by Ms Namita Kohli, MBA final year student of the Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE), under the guidance of Mr Arunesh Garg, Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Management.

Battle of Saragarhi remembered

Meeting of non-govt-college heads

77 donate blood
Ludhiana, September 15
Seventy seven volunteers of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, Ludhiana, donated blood in the Civil Hospital, Ludhiana. The blood, collected during the camp, would be utilised by the organisation for accident victims and others patients who are destitute or are not accompanied by any attendant.

Knee-joint surgery performed
Doraha, September 15
Knee joint replacement surgery, in which the damaged joint is replaced with artificial joint, was performed successfully at Sidhu Hospital, here recently. Dr R.S. Sidhu, chief orthopaedic surgeon said: “This surgery needs meticulous pre-operative planning, surgical skill and post-operative rehabilitation.
