Let Delhi police deny report: Dalal
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, August 21
Mr Karan Singh Dalal, MLA and a former Haryana minister, today asked the Delhi police to deny the report about the threat to Mr Abhay Chautala’s life from the underworld following the non-payment of over Rs 4 crore allegedly lost by the Haryana Chief Minister’s younger son in betting during the Natwest Cup Cricket final between India and England at the Lords.

“The report has quoted the Delhi police. Let it deny the report”, Mr Dalal said. He also expressed surprise that Union Home Minister, L.K. Advani did not take note of the illegal betting by the Rori MLA. Mr Dalal demanded that action should be taken against Mr Abhay Chautala like any other person caught in the act of gambling.

Mr Dalal claimed that the Chautala family had bought peace with the underworld by paying whatever Mr Abhay Chautala was to give plus a huge additional amount to settle the ‘supari’ issue.

The MLA also asked Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala to clarify whether Mr Mewa Singh was also a signatory of the state government’s MoU with Canadian software company, Finline. Mr Dalal, who had earlier alleged that Mr Mewa Singh was a proclaimed offender wanted by the police for not repaying a loan taken by him from a bank, said that information received by him suggested that Mewa Singh was one of the partners in the project. According to Dalal, Mewa Singh is also a partner in another project stated to have been clinched during Mr Chautala’s tour of China.

Mewa Singh had not yet clarified whether he was a proclaimed offender or not, Mr Dalal said.
