Haryana to recruit 550 temporary constables
Chandigarh, June 18
The Haryana police has decided to fill 550 posts of temporary constable by way of direct recruitment. While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Haryana police said the recruitment process would start at the Police Lines in Ambala, Hisar, Gurgaon and Rohtak on July 15 at 8 a.m. and all candidates who would report before 5 p.m. on that day along with application forms would be registered for further process.

Regular power supply for rural areas

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) began the fifth phase of the campaign to provide on-the-spot regular domestic and non-domestic connections in the rural areas yesterday.

Couple killed in railway station mishap
Yamunanagar, June 18
Four persons, including a woman, were killed in different incidents. According to the information received here today, Ramesh (40) and his wife (35), residents of Joginder Nagar here went to the Jagadhri railway station yesterday night. As the couple tried to board the Dehra Dun-Amritsar Express, they lost balance and fell on the railway track.

Murder case witness shot
Hisar, June 18
A person was shot dead at Hansi near here yesterday. His wife was also injured in the firing. She has been admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

Haryana to recruit 550 temporary constables

Chandigarh, June 18
The Haryana police has decided to fill 550 posts of temporary constable by way of direct recruitment.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Haryana police said the recruitment process would start at the Police Lines in Ambala, Hisar, Gurgaon and Rohtak on July 15 at 8 a.m. and all candidates who would report before 5 p.m. on that day along with application forms would be registered for further process. Registration would be followed up by the scrutiny of forms and physical measurements. The names of candidates found eligible would be announced as well as displayed on the notice board.

The candidates found eligible on the basis of physical measurement would undergo a physical proficiency test of 20 marks in 100 metres and 800 metres races, long jump and the high jump. Those who would secure at least nine marks in the test would be called for the interview. The maximum marks for interview or personality test would be 15 and the merit list would be prepared on the basis of marks secured in physical efficiency test and interview separately.

Regular power supply for rural areas

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) began the fifth phase of the campaign to provide on-the-spot regular domestic and non-domestic connections in the rural areas yesterday.

The Nigam has selected 205 villages of Faridabad, Gurgaon, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Bhiwani, Hisar and Sirsa districts.

A spokesman of the DHBVN said that the current phase of the campaign would be completed by July 26. In the first four phases of the campaign, the Nigam organised camps in 460 during September and November last year and January, March and April this year during which it released 11,000 domestic and non-domestic connections.

It has been launched mainly to check the menace of theft of power and dissuade villagers from using kundi connections.

Couple killed in railway station mishap

Yamunanagar, June 18
Four persons, including a woman, were killed in different incidents. According to the information received here today, Ramesh (40) and his wife (35), residents of Joginder Nagar here went to the Jagadhri railway station yesterday night. As the couple tried to board the Dehra Dun-Amritsar Express, they lost balance and fell on the railway track.

The woman died on the spot while Ramesh succumbed to his injuries in a hospital. The bodies were given to family members of the deceased after a post-mortem examination.

In another incident, Inderjeet (50) of Vishnu Nagar was killed while working on a machine at the railway workshop here yesterday.

Nirmal Singh of Gulam Nagar allegedly died after consuming poison.

Murder case witness shot

Hisar, June 18
A person was shot dead at Hansi near here yesterday. His wife was also injured in the firing. She has been admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

According to the police, Abhimanyu, a brother of a notorious criminal Jitender Jogi, and his five accomplices went to the Rampura Mohalla in a car last night and knocked at the door of Mohan Lal, a peon in the Improvement Trust. When he opened the door, they opened fire at him and his wife Maya Devi. He died on the spot.

The deceased was the main witness in a case of the murder of his brother Jaibir Singh in which Jitender Jogi was an accused. A local court had sentenced Jogi and Santra Devi, wife of Jaibir Singh, to life imprisonment last month.

The police has registered a case against six persons.
