New Delhi, October 17
A 42-year-old woman and a three-and-a-half-year-old boy were killed while the boy's mother and sister were injured during a scuffle between the two women at a house in west Delhi's Moti Nagar area this afternoon.

The police suspect that the motive behind the incident was hostility over an extramarital affair.

The incident took place inside the residence of Anil Kumar, who is the Chief of Corporate Communications of an English daily.

Anil's son, Aarav, and neighbour, Reena Taneja, were killed in the scuffle while his wife, Sudesh and daughter are injured. They are admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre in a critical condition.

A police officer narrating the sequence of events, said that Reena went to Sudesh's house this afternoon. A scuffle took place and one of them allegedly brought a knife and attacked the other.

"It is not clear who attacked whom as one of the women is dead and the other is not in a condition to give her statement. We can only ascertain the sequence of events after we have recorded the statements of the victims," said the officer.

Police sources, however, hinted that Sudesh allegedly slit Reena's throat with a knife. Sudesh's children intervened in their scuffle, resulting in the death of the toddler and her daughter sustaining injuries.

Sources claimed that a piece of paper soaked in blood was found at the site of the incident. It reportedly read that Manoj is responsible for everything. Manoj is Reena's husband and he allegedly had an affair with Sudesh. When Reena became aware of this, she went to Sudesh's house to confront her with the issue.

Sunita Khurana, one of the neighbours, had seen the crime scene. "I was sitting with the other women from the locality at a house located opposite Sudesh's. At about 2.50 pm, I saw her daughter in balcony. She was bleeding from her stomach. She gestured and wanted us to come to her house. I and some other women rushed to the house. We knocked at the main door and Sudesh opened it. A knife had been thrust into the side of her waist. We went inside and saw her son lying dead on his stomach. We went to another room and found a woman dead. We later learnt that she was Reena Taneja. When we went to the house's balcony, we saw Sudesh's daughter lying unconscious," said Sunita.

Even as the Delhi Election Commission had declared a "single window clearance" for giving permission for political meetings and rallies last Friday, various agencies and officials, including the Delhi Police, civic bodies, returning officers, have yet to implement it on ground.

Over the last few days, Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal had to cancel nearly five meetings in the areas such as Narela, Malviya Nagar, Shakarpur Basti and in another instance today, a group of its members were told not to wear party caps at Shakarpur.

Raising slogans against the Delhi Government, they protested against a petition being filed in the Delhi High Court challenging the authority of Shri Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs. Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK, who is also the president of Delhi unit of SAD (Badal), was leading the protest.

The protesters said that a criminal petition was filed last week by a person named Jatinder Singh Sayali who is very close to former DSGMC president Paramjit Singh Sarna.

The petition alleged that Sri Akal Takht interfered in the system of natural justice. It was filed after the Akal Takht asked Sarna to withdraw a petition filed in the Delhi High Court against the decision of the DSGMC to build a 1984 Sikh carnage memorial in the precincts of Gurdwara Sri Rakabganj Sahib in Delhi.

Initially Sarna withdrew the petition, but later challenged the authority of Shri Akal Takht.

"This would never be acceptable to the Sikhs living across the globe and Sarna was doing all this at the behest of the Congress which has always harmed the interest of the Sikhs," added Manjit Singh GK.

DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that it is the Congress' well-planned game under which they are continuously working against Shri Akal Takht. Other SAD leaders, including Avtar Singh Hit, Kuldeep Singh Bhogal and Onkar Singh Thapar, also took part in the protest.

Alleging that the Congress was interfering in the Sikh matters, GK said that it has happened for the first time that a petition was filed in the court against Shri Akal Takht.
