BJP to start door campaign on
Oct 17
New Delhi, October 14 The objective of the programme is to further push the momentum of the party campaign by connecting with every household in the city. The philosophy of campaign is "back to the basics", said Delhi party unit chief Vijay Goel. Announcing the door-to-door campaign at a press conference today, Goel said, "There are already 11,763 polling booth-level crack teams which have been trained in the past. Each team comprises 32 members with youth and women being part of them". Now going to the next level of the campaign, a team comprising three members from these crack teams will connect with masses through personal contact programme. Each team will visit 20 homes and meet the families and share party's vision about Delhi with them. They will also take feedback from the families about the issues concerning them. Each team will be given a feedback form that will be filled after discussions with the families at ground zero. The form will help specify the issues crucial for them in their respective constituencies. These teams will also enlist the advice from every household for the party manifesto for Delhi elections. "The teams will be carrying a specially designed 'kit' that will have a booklet and other literature for exchanging party's vision with the people to make them aware of the programmes and policies that the party will enforce in Delhi for its all-round development. They will also be carrying the literature to highlight the complete absence of governance under the Congress in Delhi," Goel said. |
BJP slams govt for not issuing pension to senior citizens
New Delhi, October 14 "Thousands of elderly people, who had submitted their forms for the pension, have not yet received any intimation about the fate of their applications and the payment of those who had been drawing pension for the past several years has been stopped on the pretext of verification," he said. He said that the Social Welfare Department has not accepted any pension form in this financial year. This shows the “callous” attitude of the government towards the old and needy people. Commenting on the advertisement by the Congress in view of the impending assembly elections, Malhotra called it a media hype and wastage of public money. "Because of the unprecedented inflation, rise in water and electricity bills, rampant lawlessness, people are seething with anger and they will vote out the government in the elections," he said. |
AAP takes up model code with CEO
New Delhi, October 14 In this regard, the AAP representatives met the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi Election Commission (DEC) Vijay Dev today to discuss the hassles faced by them recently due to the lack of clear communication on poll norms and consistency in the implementation among the officials of respective agencies in several areas even as the single-window clearance within 24-48 hours is said to have been put in place. The legal counsel of AAP Pawan Gupta said, "Clarity seems to be lacking among the officers deputed on the job of giving permission and we had to cancel over 20-25 meetings after the model code of conduct was brought in. The last one being today when a meeting scheduled at Zakir Park in Malviya Nagar was cancelled after we were told that the horticulture department didn't permit it. In one of the cases in Madipur, the returning officer has told that campaigning can happen only after the nomination concludes on November 9." The AAP had been relying on nukkad nataks (street plays) as a low-cost medium to reach out to people in localities but this requires them to get permission from the agencies concerned in the constituencies which makes it cumbersome, argue AAP members. "We have planned nukkad nataks for our candidates and for this we face a lot of trouble in getting permission. The commission has not given permission to display political messages on autorickshaws and even in houses of our volunteers and supporters," added Pawan. They have submitted representations both to the DEC and the Election Commission of India (ECI) with a set of proposals to ensure that the hindrances in campaigning are worked out, including allowing small gatherings. |
