In the worst floods over the last five decades in Jammu and Kashmir, 31 more persons were killed in landslides and two incidents of house collapse today, taking the death toll to 170.

Crumbling bridges a big worry

In flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir, bridges are tumbling like ninepins. On the fifth day of flash floods caused by incessant rain, two bridges, including a portion of a bridge constructed last year, collapsed following strong currents in the Tawi in Jammu.

8 of Batala family die as roof caves in after rain

Eight members of a family were killed and one was seriously injured after the roof of their house caved in due to rains at Dhalla village on Qadian-Batala road on Saturday. The incident occurred around 2 am when the entire family was sleeping, said officials.
