Abohar
Four killed in mishaps:
Two persons died when their car collided head on with a tempo in Jamsar segment on National Highway 15 in Rajasthan on Saturday. The police said Saleem (27) and Kalu Khan (18) died on the spot, while the injured have been admitted to the local civil hospital. Driver Ranjeet Singh (41) died as another truck hit his truck parked on the roadside. Sita Ram (25) died when a jeep hit their motorcycle on Sahwa-Hanumangarh road.

Ferozepur
Pak intruder shot dead:
A Pakistani intruder was shot dead by BSF personnel while he was trying to sneak into the Indian territory near Ulloke border outpost in Khai Mehal Singh Wala area here. Officials said the deceased, appearing to be in his mid-twenties, could not be identified. They said the body was handed over to the police after a post-mortem.

Phagwara
Two thieves held:Two thieves, Jaspreet Singh and Chetan, residents of Goraya, were held with a stolen motorcycle, five stolen mobiles and 150 gm of intoxicant powder on Saturday. Phagwara Station House Officer Balbir Singh said both the accused had confessed to have been involved in over a dozen snatchings.

Woman raped, 2 booked:
Harbans Singh and Chhinda Singh of Jollian village near Bhawanigarh have been booked for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman of the same village. In her complaint to the police, she had alleged that the accused raped her on the intervening night of September 1 and 2.

: The Mohali campus of the Indian School of Business (ISB) today launched a two-day ISB Big Leap Summit on its premises, here today. Tributes paid to martyrs:
CM Harish Rawat paid tributes to martyrs of Khumar in the Salt area of the district on Saturday and said the present generation should take inspiration from those who had sacrificed their lives for the country. “The CM inaugurated a hill crafts institute at Gururabanh, a women’s hospital at Someshwar and sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the zila panchayat rest house at Almora,” said Ranjit Singh Rawat, a former MLA from Salt area.

Rs 1,193 cr for development:
Finance Minister Indira Hridayesh has released Rs 1,193 crore, including Rs 750 crore for all six districts of Kumaon, under district plan head. “We have released the actual amount demanded by district magistrates and expect speedy development in the six districts,” said Hridayesh.

Khatima
Work on diversion channel suspended:
The work on the diversion channel being constructed by UP Irrigation Department was suspended for a day as villagers from the Lohiahead locality sought compensation for losses they suffered due to the channel breach last week. “We will not let the construction take place until the UP Government compensates farmers and residents who suffered losses due to the negligence of UP irrigation officers,” said Pushkar Singh Dhami, local MLA from Khatima.

Nainital
Campaign on to remove encroachments:
Complying with Nainital High Court orders to remove encroachment from Mall Road, District Magistrate Akshat Gupta along with Lake Development Authority and Nagar Palika administration resumed the campaign on Saturday. “We had served notices on encroachers 15 days back and now, if we do not remove these encroachments, we will be disobeying High Court orders,” said the DM.
