AAP campaign committee for assembly elections formed New Delhi, June 7 The decision comes following the second day of the AAP national executive committee (NEC) meet and the party is likely to make the announcement tomorrow at a formal briefing in the national Capital. Confirming the development, NEC member Prof Anand Kumar told The tribune, "In Delhi, we are planning to raise our voter percentage to at least 40 per cent. We have created a committee under Arvind Kejriwal for campaigning in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections. The party has already made its mark and now we will work towards becoming an alternative to the BJP and Congress for voters of Delhi." Claiming that AAP has hold on the affairs of Delhi, it took on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance, accusing the saffron party of ignoring the power crisis faced by people in Delhi over the last few days. "Major power cuts all across Delhi. BJP needs to explain and take immediate action," tweeted former Delhi Chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal who did his best to keep the flock together. Senior party leaders said at a time when Delhi is reeling from power crisis, senior bureaucrats have gone to study the Gujarat model. Noting that this reflects wrong priorities of those running the Delhi administration in the absence of an elected government, they said, "The unjustified and long power cuts across different parts of the national Capital are unacceptable. The central government appears unconcerned." The party further questioned the "kid glove" approach of the BJP-led central government in dealing with the private power discoms equating its conduct with that of the former regimes of the Congress at the centre. The AAP did not spare the Congress either as it took on both the Congress-led UPA and the BJP-led NDA central governments saying that since February 14, first the former and now the latter have been ruling Delhi by proxy and both of them need to explain whether discoms were directed to ensure adequate electricity supply. |

FYUP rollback: NSUI strike enters second day New Delhi, June While a five-member delegation of BJP-leaning ABVP met Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani, on the other hand, the relay hunger strike of the representatives from the Congress-backed NSUI entered its second day today. Both the factions are demanding an immediate rollback of the FYUP course. The DUSU has also got an appointment to meet the minister on Monday.
