Respite for danga peerats
Ludhiana, December 19
The state government has revised the rates of houses meant for danga peerats. A meeting of senior officials, chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, was held in Chandigarh recently in which it was decided that the actual cost, fixed way back in 1991-1992, should be charged from the danga peerats and the interest should be waived off.
Officials to meet on eviction today

Senior officials of the district administration, the police and GLADA will meet tomorrow to discuss the sensitive issue of eviction of occupants of six houses by December 31 as ordered by the Supreme Court. These houses,
allotted to "danga peerats", were "illegally" occupied by some other danga
peerats.

Ban on hookah bars

Married man dupes girl into wedlock
Ludhiana, December 19
The city police today booked a man, who duped a girl into marrying him posing as a bachelor. The accused is still to be arrested.
The victim, Sapna Sood, a resident of Gobind Nagar, said that the accused, Inderjit Singh of
Doraha, who is working as a car sales executive at a showroom in Focal Point, solemnized the marriage with her on January 28 this year.
