SMSes stir ut ssp into action

The Rose Garden roundabout (Matka Chowk) was the scene of an impromptu meeting of around 200 policemen addressed by UT SSP Naunihal Singh in the wake of provocative SMSes advising ladies to wear SBD (short black dresses) tonight since it was considered to be a ladies’ night out wherein they were supposedly entitled to free drinks in some of the city’s well-known bars and discotheques.

It’s bumper to bumper as vehicles jostle for space
There is a heavy inflow of traffic due to the bus stop at Housing Board Chowk. Usually, the traffic coming from the Panchkula slip road comes to a halt. With Panchkula having just three routes to reach Chandigarh, one witnesses heavy flow of traffic on the main Panchkula-Chandigarh route. The biggest bottlenecks are found on this route as there is maximum inflow of traffic. To travel on the Railway light point, Kala Gram point and Housing Board route, it has become a cumbersome task.

PU to introduce table marking in semester system

In a bid to ensure that the answer sheets of over 60, 000 postgraduate (PG) students are evaluated and results are declared on time, Panjab University is going to introduce table marking in the semester system. The teachers, evaluating the answer sheets, won't be allowed to take them at home. They will have to check the answersheets them at the evaluation centre.
