Hoshiarpur, August 29 When they reached near Pandori Araiyan village, two turbaned youths came in an Indica car and stopped their vehicle in front of their motorcycle. The car occupants threw chilli powder in their eyes and snatched the cash and valuables and fled in their vehicle. The Dasuya police has registered a case under

Hoshiarpur, August 29 According to the police, Gurjot Kaur stated that she was married to Sagibjit Singh. All the accused had been torturing and maltreating her for bringing dowry from her parents since her marriage, she alleged. |

Tarn Taran, August 29 The police said the accused had been identified as Gurpreet Singh Gopi, Jasbir Singh and Palwinder Singh. Sources said during the final match, accused Gurpreet Singh fired a gun shot in the air from his pistol then in fit of rage he fired at Gurpal Singh. Gurpal had been admitted to a hospital in serious condition. Kewal Singh, Investigating Officer (IO) said no accused had been arrested yet though raids had been conducted on the possible hideouts of the accused. |

‘Run for sports’ organised
Hoshiarpur, August 29 While paying floral tributes to hockey legend late Dhian Chand, Tikshan Sud, former Punjab minister and president of the District Sports Welfare Association, explained the importance of sports and appealed to the students to take part in sports
activities to make themselves mentally and physically fit. He honoured leading sportspersons who brought laurels to the district in national and international games, their coaches, representatives of various NGOs and journalists, who had contributed for the promotion of games. Later, Tikshan Sud flagged off “Run for sports”, in which thousands of students of various schools participated. The participants ran on the roads passing through the main bazaars of the city. |
