Jalandhar, May 12
The city police today booked an employee of a city-based cable operator for allegedly raping a woman at Guru Nanak Nagar last night.

The accused has been identified as Vicky, a resident of the same locality. In a complaint to the police, victim Sonam Devi alleged that she was alone at her house last night. “I got up when I heard a noise outside my room, I came out and noticed a person scaling the outer wall of my house,” alleged Sonam.

She alleged that the person, who was holding a sharp-edged weapon, forcibly took her in the room and raped her.

RPS Sandhu, Assistant Police Commissioner (West), said, a case under Section 376 of the IPC had been registered at the Basti Bawa Khel police station. He said the medical examination of the woman would be conducted tomorrow.
