A daily wage earner was injured by two bike-borne youths at Dhodgi village yesterday. The youths approached the labourer with the intention to loot him. However, they found only Rs 30 from his pocket and in anger they assaulted him.

2 Army men die in mishaps
Tarn Taran, February 17
Two army men died in different mishaps here today. Sources said Sukhdev Singh (33), a resident of Sangatpur village, 25 km from here, died due to electrocution at his farmhouse. He was starting the tube well to water the fields when the incident took place.

Bike-borne youths attack labourer

A daily wage earner was injured by two bike-borne youths at Dhodgi village yesterday. The youths approached the labourer with the intention to loot him. However, they found only Rs 30 from his pocket and in anger they assaulted him.

The injured Ashok Kumar, a resident of Kishanpura, said last night when he was returning home, two bike-borne youths approached him and asked him an address. “When I was telling them the way, one of them took out a sharp-edged weapon and threatened me. They asked me to hand over cash and valuables,” the victim said. He told them that he had only Rs 30 in his pocket. This infuriated them and they started abusing Ashok Kumar. They even snatched Rs 30 from the victim.

Factory burgled

Burglars struck at a factory situated at Basti Bawa Khel and decamped with a laptop and a CCTV recorder yesterday.

Factory owner Vikas Sharma said when they came to open the factory this morning they were stunned to see the main locks of office, situated inside the factory, broken. The police said the burglars barged into the factory after scaling the outer wall.

Rs 25,000 snatched

A snatcher decamped with Rs 2,500, an ATM card, a credit card and some other documents from a resident at Bhai Ditt Singh Nagar yesterday.

One booked for rape

Hoshiarpur: The city police has booked Vikas Gupta of local Dhobi Ghat, for allegedly raping his teenaged cousin. The victim stated that she came to her aunt's house at Dhobi Ghat, Hoshiarpur. Her cousin Vikas Gupta raped her while she was alone in the house. After raping her, Vikas Gupta threatened to kill her if she reveals the incident to anyone.

2 Army men die in mishaps

Tarn Taran, February 17
Two army men died in different mishaps here today. Sources said Sukhdev Singh (33), a resident of Sangatpur village, 25 km from here, died due to electrocution at his farmhouse. He was starting the tube well to water the fields when the incident took place.

Postmortem was performed at the local Civil Hospital. Sources said the deceased had come on one month leave about four days back. The Chohla Sahib police initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.

In the second incident, an army personal Gurwinder Singh (32), a resident of Brahampura village, 30 km from here, died in a road accident near Naushehra Pannuan village. The victim was going to visit his sister at Joga Singh Wala village. He had reached Naushehra Pannuan when a mini bus (No. PB- 46 F, 9613) collided with his motorcycle. Gurwinder was declared him brought dead at the civil Hospital.

Italian cuisine workshop

Gurdaspur, February 17
The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition, (IHMCN) in collaboration with Indian Culinary Forum organised an Italian Cuisine Workshop at the institute’s premises.

Suman Sharma, corporate chef, Tonino’s Italian Restaurant, New Delhi,and Vivek Saggar, Chief Consultant, Food Arts, New Delhi presented an expert demonstration of Italian dishes to students here.

The event was organised by Aarti Thapa, Chief Instructor, IHMCN, and member of the prestigious Indian Culinary Forum.

Principal Argha Chakravorty delivered an educative extempore on Italian dishes.
