Farmer shot dead in land dispute Tarn Taran, February 13 When he reached near Thathi village, Sikandar Singh (not his younger brother) of the same village along with five accomplices opened fire at Gursewak Singh from a close range. Two of the assailants were armed with revolvers. They fired 11 shots at Gursewak Singh. Gursewak Singh died on the spot. Dispute regarding three acres of land is said to be the cause behind the incident. The court had given its decision in favour of deceased Gursewak Singh. The police has registered a case under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. The accused are absconding. SSP Manminder Singh said the accused would be nabbed soon. Service revolver of ASI snatched Three unidentified youths snatched the service revolver and Rs 5,500 from ASI Joginder Singh, posted at the Sarhali police station. Joginder Singh after finishing his duty was going to his village Margindpura, 40 km from here, on his motorcycle (PB-38 A 4277) late last evening. He was just a few meters behind his village when he attacked by three unidentified youths with sharp-edged weapons. The miscreants injured him and took away his 9 mm revolver, Rs 5,500 and his identity card. Miscreants fire in town Miscreants fired in the Muradpur locality of the town last night. Four empty and three live cartridges were recovered from the spot by the police. A case under Sections 336, 148 and 149 of the IPC was registered. The police said the accused had been identified as Rajinder Singh Mallhi, Jugga and Balla of the town, and their 15 to 20 accomplices. Inder Kaur of Gali Jand Peer Wali told the police that the accused were armed with weapons and called her names. 2 held with stolen motorcycle The Sadar police arrested Satnam Singh of Dhunda village and Loveraj Singh of Aladinpur village and recovered a stolen motorcycle from them at a naka late last evening. |

12-year-old boy killed in road accident
Pathankot, February 13 The boy, Baljeet, was on his way to his home as he reached near the T-point a truck coming from behind hit the boy. He sustained head injuries and died on the spot. Villagers gathered on the spot and informed the police. Vipan Kumar, investigating officer, said the driver of the truck fled from the spot after leaving the vehicle behind. A case under Section 304-A of the IPC for causing death by rash driving and negligence was registered against the driver. The deceased’s body was handed over to the family after postmortem at the Civil Hospital here today. Blood donation camps held Pathankot: Two blood donation camps were organised by the Mirthal Sewa Society and Jeevan Rakshak Sewa Samiti here on Sunday.
