26 voters exercise right to reject

Jalandhar, January 31
As many as 26 electorates in Jalandhar district exercised their right to reject all candidates by using 49-0 during polling on Monday. These voters were from five constituencies (Jalandhar North, Jalandhar West, Jalandhar Central, Phillaur and Adampur) of total nine Assembly segments in the district.

As many as 12 electorates used this right to reject all the seven candidates trying their luck from Jalandhar north - 36. Former minister Avtar Henry (Congress), sitting MLA KD Bhandari (BJP), councillor Hans Raj Rana (BSP), Narinder Pal Singh Shergill (PPP), rebel Congress leader Dinesh Dhall and independents Satish Kumar and Tilak Raj contested for this seat.

Similarly, nine voters exercised their right to reject all the candidates contesting from Jalandhar West - 34. The contestants were MP Mohinder Singh Kaypee’s wife Suman Kaypee (Congress) and Deputy Speaker Bhagat Chunni Lal (BJP), Bachan Lal (BSP), Raj Kumar (PPP), Balwinder Kumar (Lok Jan Shakti Party), Luv Kishore (Bahujan Shakti Party) and independent Sandeep.

Three voters used this right to reject all the 11 candidates trying their luck for Jalandhar Central-35. Former minister Manoranjan Kalia (BJP), councillor Rajinder Beri (BJP), Kuldeep Singh Cheema (PPP), Rajinder Singh (BSP), Surinder Arora (NCP), Gurmeet Singh Aulakh (SAD Amritsar), Raj Pal Singh (Democratic Bhartiya Samaj Party), independents Surjeet Kaur, Kamaldeep Singh and Kuldeep Kumar contested for this seat.

Phiallur and Adampur constituencies saw one voter each, who exercised the right to reject all the candidates.

As many as nine candidates, including former minister Santokh Chaudhary (Congress), Kartarpur MLA Avinash Chander (SAD), Parshautam Lal (CPM), Baldev Singh (BSP), independents Salim Mohammad, Rajan, Des Raj, Balkar Ram and Mela Singh contested for Phillaur segment.

In the same way, 11 candidates including Pawan Tinu (SAD) and Satnam Kainth (Congress), were in fray for the Adampur seat.
